The Next Gen hardware supports multiple activity modes for the various situations you train in. Below is a quick breakdown of the default features of each, and they are also customizable.
Run (Standard)
- Run mode is the standard activity mode of the Next Gen Stryd. It is most similar to the previous wind pod outdoor run mode and offers a flexible platform for everyday running, no matter your location. This mode is fully compatible with structured workouts.
Track Run
- Track Run offers the most responsive & snappy Stryd Power experience to date. Elevation power is disabled in this mode to give you the cleanest data possible for your track sessions. Give this mode a try on your next speedy workout to see how closely Stryd can track you! This mode is fully compatible with structured workouts.
Trail Run
- Trail Run is the most relaxed setup with Stryd. With 30-second averaged power as a default metric on your watch face, it helps keep you on track through windy and technical trails without worrying about every step. This mode is fully compatible with structured workouts, but it has “under” notifications turned off by default so you don’t get feedback when you drop out of your target zone on a switchback.
Treadmill Run
- Treadmill mode is designed to give you a stable treadmill experience. Since many runners use a fan to cool these workouts down, air power is turned off to avoid erroneous “wind” readings. Elevation power is also disabled to allow the manual entry of incline values. This mode is fully compatible with treadmill workouts and does not record a full GPS track.
Indoor Run
- Indoor Run mode gives you track-like responsiveness when running indoors. Elevation power is disabled, but air power is still present in this mode. Indoor Run mode was designed to help keep your hard training on track, no matter the weather outside. This mode is fully compatible with structured workouts and does not record a full GPS track.
Note that these are a combination of hardware and firmware features. As our firmware continues to develop, these modes may change behaviour slightly. Please reach out to support@stryd.com if you have any further questions.
