Garmin watches can connect through ANT and Bluetooth to Stryd. Many Garmin watches prompt users to pair Stryd through Bluetooth.
PWR vs FP
From Garmin's perspective, Stryd has two functions. One is a foot pod, and one is a power pod. So, the watch can pair with Stryd as a foot pod AND power pod. We recommend to only pair Stryd as a foot pod. The power pod pairing serves no function (if you own a 910XT, contact email@example.com). Stryd can provide pace and distance through Bluetooth and ANT, but power data is always transmitted through ANT.
Action: never pair Stryd as a power (PWR) pod!
FP-XXXXX vs FP-STRYD
While pairing Stryd with your Garmin, make sure to move your Stryd. The watch may find your Stryd through Bluetooth and ANT. The Bluetooth connection will be presented as FP-STRYD. The ANT connection will be presented as FP-XXXXX. XXXXX is the ANT ID of your Stryd and can be used for setting up the data field.
Action: the preferred pairing is through ANT (FP-XXXXX)
Your Garmin may prompt you to pair Stryd as power and foot pod. If you have Stryd paired as PWR-STRYD and FP-STRYD on your watch, you will have problems as your Garmin will attempt to make two Bluetooth connections to Stryd which is not supported.
Action: never have a double pairing on your Garmin watch. Pair Stryd as a foot pod only.
