Polar is a great pairing with Stryd, and many watches are fully compatible with Stryd delivering both power data and superior pace and distance, compared to GPS. However, some older watches are only partially compatible with Stryd. This article will cover what 'full compatibility' means and which watches fall into that category.
What is 'Full Compatibility' with Stryd?
Whether you're considering Stryd for power-based training and racing, or simply interested in the best pace and distance you can get, not every watch enjoys full functionality with Stryd (though we try our best). So what is full compatibility?
1) Pace and distance from Stryd with GPS enabled
This means that your watch will receive pace and distance from Stryd, while still picking up your GPS path (and showing it post-run).
2) Native power
Polar has 'native power' which means you don't need to download anything special on your watch to use Stryd power. You'll simply pair it via 'pair sensor' and configure your screens to display realtime power, or power averaging, and use zone lock to keep you in a certain power zone. Click here to see Polar's article on compatibility with Stryd. And an article on how it works with Polar here.
3) Stryd+ metrics
When you sync your watch with Polar Flow after a run and then sync your Stryd with the Stryd app, you can take advantage of a variety of other unique metrics measured directly from the foot: form power, ground contact time, leg spring stiffness, vertical oscillation, and wind power. Again, to get Stryd+ metrics you must do an offline sync that merges your watch data to the pod data. Learn more here.
Note: If you do not Offline Sync, your Race Power Calculator results will be wrong. The Stryd System needs a complete data set to make these calculations.
Fully Compatible Watches
This list comprises watches that can enjoy the full range of benefits from Stryd as listed above.
Polar Pace and Pacer Pro
Vantage V, V2, and V/Titan
Grit X
Vantage M, M2
V800
Don't see your watch?
Other Polar watches do not receive power from Stryd, though Stryd can be used for superior pace and distance as a standard footpod.

Above, you refer to the watch name "Polar Pace". That is incorrect. There is a "Polar Pacer" and a "Polar Pacer Pro".
